Floruit Egregiis

Floruit Egregiis pays tribute to scholar M. Jennifer Bloxam by reworking melodic material from 15th/16th century masses she studied, including a reconstructed plainchant. Bloxam's name is also translated into a recurring theme using the Renaissance device of soggetto cavato. The intricate interweaving of sources reflects the composer's evolving understanding of music's historical layers, sparked by studying with Bloxam.
